Dr. Peter Taylor

Dr. Peter Taylor is an associate professor at the University of Birmingham and consultant endocrinologist internationally recognised for his work in type 1 diabetes and thyroid disease. His research focuses on developing innovative approaches to disease prevention and modification, combining translational science, precision medicine and advanced clinical trial design. He has been key in major national and international studies including EDENT1FI and VER-A-T1D, which are evaluating novel immunotherapies and adaptive platform trial methodologies aimed at preventing type 1 diabetes and preserving pancreatic beta-cell function.

Alongside his diabetes research, Dr Taylor has an internationally leading research portfolio in hypothyroidism, complex thyroid disease and thyroid disorders in pregnancy, including a first-author Hypothyroidism seminar in The Lancet. He leads specialist multidisciplinary services for patients with challenging thyroid conditions and works closely with national and international collaborators to improve outcomes for women and families affected by thyroid disease in pregnancy.
